Anesthesiology

When your child needs surgery, it's important to have an anesthesiology team who understands the special requirements for newborns, infants, children and teens, requiring sedation for the procedure and pain management, as they are recovering.

Among the RMHC family of care, our board-certified pediatric anesthesiologists have extensive training in:

  • General Anesthesiology
  • Pediatric Anesthesiology
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support
  • Pediatric Critical Care
  • General Pediatrics

Because Every Child is Unique

As part of your child's treatment and recovery plan, our pediatric anesthesiologists develop a personalized approach, depending on his or her specific needs. They are available 24/7 and are a vital part of the pediatric surgery and minimally invasive surgical teams.

Anesthesia Recovery Nurses

After surgery, your child will be transferred to a Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). Here, she is cared for by specially trained pediatric PACU nurses who help her recover safely from anesthesia and comfort her. These nurses monitor for airway emergencies and oxygen saturation levels in the blood. They also administer fluids and keep your child warm, a vitally important factor for younger patients who have a more difficult time regulating their body temperature.
