Children require special care in emergency departments to treat their injuries and help them feel comfortable in what could be a scary situation. As such, Swedish has created a special pediatric ER that evaluates and treats patients up to age 18.
At RMHC at Swedish, our special pediatric ER features five treatment rooms set apart from our adult rooms that are staffed by a pediatrician and a pediatric physician assistant, as well as a dedicated emergency department certified nurses and technicians. All of our pediatric ER doctors are double board-certified in both pediatrics and emergency medicine—we are one of only two hospitals in the area that staff this high level of medical professionals for their pediatric emergency room patients!
As a Level I Trauma Center, Swedish also is prepared to care for the most serious injuries and maintains specially equipped trauma rooms for pediatric patients.
RMHC at Swedish's pediatric ER is staffed at the times you'll likely need it—in the evenings and on weekends, when doctors' offices are closed:
At other times, children will receive great care from the other excellent members of the Emergency Department staff.
If your child should need to be hospitalized, Swedish has a dedicated 11-bed Pediatric Unit and a six-bed Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. These areas are staffed by a team of pediatricians, pediatric intensivists and registered nurses—all highly experienced in caring for kids of all ages.
You can reach the Swedish Pediatric Unit by calling 303-788-6505 and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit by calling 303-788-PICU (7428).
