Mother is 5,000th donor at the RMHC at P/SL Mothers’ Milk Bank
Mothers' Milk Bank celebrates 5,000 donor
When: Tuesday, October 5, 2010, 11:30 a.m.
Where: Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children at P/SL , Main Lobby. Entrance on High Street between 19th and 21st (look for the Mountain Kids logo on signs) in Denver.
Media can park in the main driveway just outside the main lobby entrance. We will also go to the Neonate Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to meet a set of triplets who received donated milk and their mom (very visual)
Who:
- Theresa Giarrantano, 5,000th Donor to the Mothers’ Milk Bank – she is bringing a cooler full of milk to donate to the bank
- Lucca Giarrantano, Theresa’s child born July 18, 2010
- Evette Saucida-Linsey – has donated the highest quantity of milk over several years – she’s donated more than 20,000 ounces!
- Courtney Downing and son Carson who was a recipient of donated mothers’ milk until Courtney could breast feed - now she is a donor
- Lisa Crane – a ‘Non-Dairy’ milk donor – she was on a strict non-dairy diet because her child was allergic to dairy so Lisa donated her extra breast milk for other babies also allergic to dairy, but still needing mothers’ milk.
- Newborn Triplets currently in the Neonate Intensive Care Unit (NICU) who received donated mothers’ milk for the first 2 weeks of their lives. Their mother will be there as well for interviews and a photo op.
- Dr. Jeffrey Hansen, Neonatologist with Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children at P/SL who calls mothers’ milk, “Liquid Gold” for premature babies.

Mothers' Milk Bank History:
- The Mothers’ Milk Bank was started in 1984 and we celebrated our 25th anniversary in 2009.
- The Milk Bank’s purpose is to screen, collect, store and dispense human milk, by prescription only, to babies who have requirements and whose own mothers are unable to provide it.
- Donated milk is sent to 26 different states and to more than 40 hospitals from our location.
- The Mothers’ Milk Bank is owned and is a department of the Rocky Mountain Children’s Health Foundation, a 501 (c ) (3) charitable organization.
